Private-label thermal paper is more than adding a logo to a carton. The roll specification, printed artwork, wrapping, carton construction and approval process must work as one repeatable production standard. Confirming these items before sampling saves revisions and supports consistent replenishment.
Start with the functional specification
Approve the paper roll itself before finalising branded packaging. Confirm width, outside diameter, GSM, core, thermal side, image performance and printer compatibility. Packaging cannot correct an unsuitable roll specification.
Prepare production-ready artwork
- Vector logo and artwork files
- Pantone or agreed colour references
- Print dimensions and coverage
- Barcode type and verified data
- Country-of-origin and compliance wording
- A clearly numbered artwork revision
Choose the correct branding level
Branding can be applied to individual wraps, printed rolls, inner packs, cartons or retail boxes. The best combination depends on the sales channel, order quantity and unit-cost target. For an initial market test, a simpler branded carton or label may be more practical than fully customised materials.
Create a controlled approval process
- Digital artwork approval
- Packaging material or colour proof
- Physical pre-production sample when necessary
- Written confirmation of specification and packing
- Retained reference sample for repeat orders
Protect repeat-order consistency
A reliable OEM program records the approved paper grade, roll dimensions, core, artwork version, packing quantity, carton marks and inspection standard. Purchase orders should reference this controlled specification rather than relying on a previous invoice description.
Information to send your supplier
Send the target roll specification, current artwork, packaging format, sales channel, trial quantity, expected repeat demand and target market. This allows the factory to recommend an appropriate development path and identify cost drivers before sampling.
